| Hello! I love to read & I am ready to go to bed right now and I have no good novel to read! Tragedy! And to make matters worse, I don't even have any in mind that I just have to go get at the libary or wherever. So this post is a cry for help- Please leave me a comment telling me what your top 3 novels are that you've read or telling me the names of some authors that you love. I would appreciate it! Just so you have an idea what I like- I like Francine Rivers, Karen Kingsbury, Lynn Austin, Terri Blackstock, etc. One thing that I enjoy reading about are books like I have pictured above, that I just finished reading. Christian Books that are true stories, more current, and are about people that are helping the helpless, sacrificing for their faith, or bringing justice to a situation. For example the book 'In the Presence of My Enemies' by Gracia Burnham, etc. I hope this makes sense and if anyone can help recommend good books to me about this or some good novels, I'd appreciate it. Ok, I'll go to bed now... | | |
| Hello! Yes, I know it's high time I updated again- it's just way more fun for me to read other people's This year is going good overall. January was a more calm, relaxing month which I like. Feb. and now March is busier and will be over the next couple months probably. One highlight was that alittle over a week ago Ivan and I got to go to Nashville, TN for a week for Choice Books. We both LOVE to travel, don't have a ton of $, so it's great that he works for a company that lets us travel every so often. Unfortunately it's only been in the US so far. That week Ivan went out selling and I was relaxing at the hotel- how nice. I couldn't do it all the time of course but it was fun for a break. Later we'll be going to Gatlenburg also. I got to go to OH this past weekend and that was great. I caught a ride out w/ Cheryl Mullet. Ivan had to stay home which was a bummer. I got to hang out w/ alot of different wonderful friends and of course w/ my awesome family. Thanks friends for making it a good weekend- Morgan's, Matt's, mom & dad, Joni, Michelle, Jenny/Shelly- great catching up and talking about many old memories- and thanks Jenny for the bed, Sue/Eileen, Jana, Carla, The Miller's, Bev and family....always SO GOOD to catchup w/ old friends!! Saturday was fun hanging w/ Jana all day and getting to help w/ wedding plans, etc. for my friend Carla- Congratulations! Life keeps rolling on, we have company this weekend, family vacation coming up, my cousin and family moving down here, etc. Sometimes I just want a calm, relaxing life but I know that if I had that all the time I would not feel right because there are people that need help and encouragement, people that need to hear about the Lord and have eternal life- things that are more important then my comfort and what I want. How do you balance the side of getting housework done and relaxing in and the side of when you do things that are of eternal value? That can be hard for me and I don't even know if I'm making sense..... Have a wonderful day! Nicole | | |
| Hello! I know it's high time I updated so here goes. Since last posting we've been busy. Jason and Melissa were down for a weekend not long ago and that was great. Thanks so much for coming! We had a good Thanksgiving. We went to Plain City, OH to be w/ my dad's extended family and all were there on Thursday except for 1 granddaughter (my cousin) so that was cool and we had fun. I got to be w/ my family all weekend so that was wonderful- I miss them alot! Then on Friday my parents, Matt's, Morgan's, and Ivan & I drove to the hills of Kentucky for Fri. night-Sunday afternoon. We hadn't been down there for 4 years and so it was high time we went. Alot of my mom's family live down there. We had a nice time and so glad Jenny was there! And also, at this 'reunion' we basically only had 1 grandaughter missing. On Sunday we drove about 2 hrs. w/ my family, stopped for supper, and then split ways, literally, on the road. We got home at 1:30 that night. This week we've actually got to be home 2 nights- I love it and we don't get enough of those evenings. So fun to be in our home w/ my wonderful husband. A big answer to prayer and an affirmation that my God knows what He's doing: At the kids club that we have here in the townhouse development where we live- we've been using a nice, closeby gym and it's been great. Almost a month ago we found out that after our 1 November kids club we would not be able to use it anymore. We wondered what we would do and wondered what God was doing. Yesterday Linda, Ivan, and I (the ones that plan the club) went to look at a church right beside the gym, that has a big room, classrooms, etc. and we are going to do a trial renting that place. It looks like it can work and we can get excited about it so that's awesome. Praise the Lord and it shows me, again, that the Lord knows what He's doing even when we can't see what it is at the moment. Christmas is coming and I decorated our house yesterday. I love having the decorations up at least for awhile. It feels cozy. It's hard to believe '06 is almost over- it flew by. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. | | |
| Hello! Yes, yes, it's finally me updating, you can breathe again. My life is going well, overall and we've been doing some fun things lately.
-A week ago Sunday night a small group of us went to hear Billy Graham and the Newsboys at the Orioles Stadium in Baltimore. I had never heard him before and wanted to while I still have a chance. That was cool.
-My friends Jana, Rhonda Mullet, and Eileen Hershberger came to visit me and we had a great time, laughing and talking. I love to laugh and I love when people have that schputting humor that I love. (Jenny you know what I mean!
-This past weekend we were in OH and had a great time. Thurs. Ivan and I drove to Cleveland and met up with my wonderful friends Jana/Carla. We had a hotel that night and then Fri. morning Ivan had a meeting up there and then came to Holmes County to hang out. I stayed up w/ them Friday and Saturday and had a hotel Fri. night. We went to the Woman of Faith Contagious Joy Seminar and had a wonderful time. It's was my 4th one and I would go again. If you've never gone, and your a lady, I recommend it. Sat. night we got to be w/ Jason/Melissa, Michelle/Anthony for awhile and Carissa and her family for alittle. That was great to see Carissa again and others too! Sunday I got to be w/ my family all day and of course I love doing that. We started home this morning and got back around 2:00 this afternoon. Good Weekend!
We are taking a break from Kids club this summer and it's really nice to have the break. Linda and I are trying 2 evenings (1 in July and 1 in August) with 6 of the teen girls so if you think about it you can pray about it.
This is a calmer week, I think, and that feels good. Ok, this is probably long enough. To my friends reading this: Have a great week. | | |
| It's finally me updating again. 2 great things that have happened lately: We got a dog!!! And I now have cut back to 16 hrs. a week at Choice Books. I now work 4 4hr. days and I love it!
Our dog is an American Bulldog that is 3 1/2 months old and is so cute- we love her!! We got her a week ago tomorrow. She can be frustrating and I think I'm getting alittle glimpse of how it might be to have the responsibility of a baby . Overall she's doing good. She's white/brown and sometime I should post a picture.
Last week Wed. afternoon through Friday night I went w/ Ivan to NC while he did sales work for Choice. I love going w/ him on the road overnight, I love staying in a hotel (am I dumb?) and I love it because I'm with him. So last week I had off some and now this week is the first full week w/ the new schedule I have. I've had work to do around here and doing stuff for kids club at work. Today is my full day off of the week and it's gorgeous day- I love it! I went to the gym this morning and this afternoon I want to clean out some stuff for a garage sale a week from Sat. Ivan's mom and sister are having one and I want to put some stuff out. Would you believe that I have never helped w/ a garage sale in my adult life? Any pointers?
This past weekend was really good thanks to my great friends from OH, Sue, Eileen, and Jana- love ya friends. They came around 11:30 Fri. night and left around 4 on Sunday afternoon. Sat. we had brunch here, went to Old town Alexandria for the day and for supper, and then in the evening Ivan met us in at an improv comedy club (the show is clean, rest assured) that we are huge fans of. We go there fairly often and it's hilarious. If you've ever watched "Who's line is it anyway?", it's that idea. Sunday night was church and we went to our friends Joe/Dar's for rook. We hadn't been w/ them for awhile and that was good again.
Have a good day! | | |
